Want to save money on your property taxes?
A homestead exemption could help! 🏡💰
A homestead exemption reduces the amount you owe on your primary residence—but you have to apply through your county or city.
Here’s what to know:
✔️ You must own and live in the home as of January 1
✔️ It must be your primary residence
✔️ You can’t claim another homestead exemption elsewhere
🗓 Deadline to apply: April 1
You’ll typically need:
• Property address & parcel ID
• Valid Georgia driver’s license + vehicle registration
• Deed (if recently purchased)
• Additional documents for special exemptions
Once approved, most exemptions automatically renew each year as long as you still live in the home.
